PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – (Nov. 22, 2012 - www.GoZags.com) The Gonzaga University women's basketball team earned a 80-66 victory over Winthrop University Thursday in the consolation game of the Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
When Washington State takes the field on Friday in the 105th Apple Cup game against Washington they will have one target in particular on their mind: former Cougar recruit, Bishop Sankey.
Sankey has emerged as a formidable threat in the Washington offense this season.
The Zags (3-0) worked their way through a pair of blowout wins last week. They beat West Virginia 84-50, and then followed that up with a 96-58 win over South Dakota on Sunday.
Indians is still the No. 1 team on the poll and Louisville is second. Kentucky dropped to No.

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Gonzaga University women's basketball team rolled to a 77-51 victory over
Monmouth University Sunday evening in front of a near capacity crowd at the
McCarthey Athletic Center.
The No. 14 Whitworth Pirates are set to tip off their season this weekend. And just like they do every year, the Bucs expect to win. But are they the favorites?
Whitworth has not lost a home opener since 1978. The team that beat them that year was none other than Gonzaga.
6-foot-1 forward Bayli McClard, from Fresno, California and 6-foot-5 Emma Wolfram, from Kamloops, B.C. committed to Gonzaga.
McClard averaged 18.5 points last season as a junior at Hanford High and was the MVP of her league in Central California.
