SPOKANE, Wash. - WSU linebacker and Gonzaga Prep alum Travis Long is named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list, released Thursday by the Football Writers Association of America. The Nagurski Trophy is awarded annually to the nation's best defensive player. At defensive end in 2011, Long recorded 42 tackles, including 12 tackles for loss and four sacks, good for second-team all-conference. New head coach Mike Leach's 3-4 defensive scheme will switch Long from a defensive end to an outside linebacker. The Cougs will be looking to earn their first bowl bid in Long's collegiate career.
