WALLA WALLA, Wash. - A painting company contracted by the city of Walla Walla have painted over the mural of a giant purple octopus at a Walla Walla toy store.
Last month, city leaders told the owner of the Inland Octopus, Bob Catsiff, that he could have 30 days to take the mural down, or they would do it for him and send him the bill.
That deadline came and went yesterday, but Catsiff didn't take the mural down.
The city says the purple octopus painting violated Walla Walla's sign ordinance, but Catsiff argued it was an expression of free speech.
He currently owes the city nearly $100,000 in fines.
