RICHLAND, Wash. - Do you have one hour to spare to help
save the planet?
Organizers of Earth Month want you to turn off or "power down" the lights in your
home or business from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.
Organizers say Hundreds of
millions of people worldwide will take part in Earth Hour.
In the Mid Columbia, there will be a flashlight hike at
Chamna Natural Preserve and a family-friendly acoustic jam by candlelight in the
Crow's Nest at Clover Island in Kennewick.
begins at 8 p.m. in the west parking lot of Chamna Preserve in Richland, off of
Aaron Drive and west of Inland Asphalt near the Yakima River. Hikers should dress for the weather, wear
sturdy shoes and bug repellant, and bring a small flashlight. For more

Clover Island Inn, local musician Vaughn Jensen will perform an acoustic jam
with the audience.
The decorative lights on
the cable bridge will be turned off at 8:30 p.m. for the rest of the night in
celebration of Earth Hour.
