BENTON CITY, Wash. -- A nearly 8 hour SWAT stand-off in Benton City finally came to end shortly before 7pm.
The Benton County Sheriff's Office arrived to a house on Red Mountain Road around 11:30 this morning after someone called them complaining that the 41-year-old who lives inside was making threats.
Police tried negotiating with the armed man but he wouldn't come out until the SWAT team fired tear gas.
"We believe he might have mental problems. Our neighbors have told us he might have some sort of mental problem because of the threats he's been making," said Danny Lamone, a neighbor.
Neighbors say the man creates a lot of commotion in their quiet neighborhood.
He was arrested and taken into custody.
