KENNEWICK, Wash. - The bases are loaded and so are our local hotels. One of the largest tournaments in the National Softball Association of Washington's history is back in the Tri-Cities this weekend.
The tournament kicks off Friday evening and runs through Sunday.
There are more than 140 girls fast pitch softball teams from all over the northwest playing in this tournament. That adds up to more than 5,000 players, coaches and their fans in town.
The Tri-Cities Visitors and Convention Bureau said that doesn't just bring in some good games but some big bucks, too.
"This weekend, visitors will spend about $1.2 million between hotels, restaurants, a little shopping while they're here. In addition to playing softball they also get out in the community and spend money," said Kim Shugart of the Tri-Cities Visitors and Convention Bureau.
This is actually the seventh year in a row this tournament has been held in the Tri-Cities and every year it just gets bigger and bigger.
This same tournament is also back on deck in the Tri-Cities in June.
