RICHLAND, Wash. - Nearly 60 runners showed up to participate in the 100-mile portion of the 3rd Annual Badger Mountain Challenge. The race got underway Friday morning.
The course consists of trails and dirt roads that stretch as far as Prosser. The race continues to grow since it began three years ago and now draws participants from around the world.
"I've never been to this region before. I drove up from San Francisco and it's just such an amazing diverse scenery and the skies are so beautiful--I mean we don't get these skies in Dubai," said Catherine Todd, a runner from Dubai.
The Challenge also includes a 15k trail hike and run and a 50k ultra-marathon. The money raised from the event goes to the "Friends of Badger Mountain" group who help preserve the area's trails.
