RICHLAND, Wash.- It's something he's wanted to do his whole life; travel the country. But not by plane or by car…on his bike!
Alex LaVoies was going to do it just for himself, but he decided to take on the ride for a cause. He's raising funds for the Wounded Warrior Project. Today they had a fundraiser at Moon River RV. Along his route he's met with many soldiers who have thanked him for his efforts.
"They just wanted to talk about different things and wondering why I'm doing this," explained LaVoies. "I just love cycling and I like helping out and I can do both by doing this."
In total he's raised over $30,000. He has one more week of riding and then he plans on staying active with fundraising. His wife Helen even plans to write a book about their adventure.
