RICHLAND, Wash. - Dozens of women gathered at Richland's Meadow Springs Country Club Tuesday morning to "Rally for the Cure."
The club's Women's Golf Association put together golf and bridge tournaments Tuesday morning to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation which supports breast cancer research and treatment programs.
After lunch, the group released dozens of balloons to honor cancer victims and survivors.
"This is one way that we can get out and support our friends. They have provided us much strength and courage throughout this by seeing what they've gone through. It's given hope to many others," said Rally for the Cure chairwoman, Ellen Hughes.
It is a fight that hits close to home for the Meadow Spring's women. More than ten percent of the women's association are breast cancer survivors.
