RICHLAND, Wash.-- Many generous people donated to a food and cash drive Saturday benefiting 2nd Harvest food bank.
The Dairy Farmers of Washington held the drive at the Richland Fred Meyer where they collected bins full of non-perishable food and whatever cash donations people were willing to give.
Everyone who made a donation received a re-usable grocery bag and a recipe book.
Julie Miller from 2nd Harvest says in this economy the need for donations is high and events like this make a difference.
"What we're doing is we are supporting the folks in our region and in the Tri-Cities who are on the margins and who need help everyday with feeding their families. Folks that are hungry," says Miller.
The food and cash drive raised over eleven hundred pounds of food and seven hundred dollars for 2nd Harvest.
