PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) - Relatives of an Eastern Oregon woman who died from an untreated bedsore say the 83-year-old spent the last months of her life a prisoner in her own home, her money spent by a daughter who is now jailed.
The daughter, 64-year-old Ida Powers, has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter in the death of Anna Lyons. She has a pre-trial hearing schedule for June 6.
Relatives say Powers spent much of her mother's $200,000 in savings and racked up $50,000 in credit card debt in her name.
District attorney Justin Nelson declined to discuss the family's allegations of embezzlement. Nelson said he could not comment on specifics of that investigation nor the manslaughter charges.
