NBCRightNow.com - Pest control experts say April is the best time to pest-proof your home. As the weather gets warmer, pests tend to migrate into homes looking for food and water.
Spiders, ants, mice and mosquitoes are all common pests in Eastern Washington.
Experts say pest-proofing your home in advance will save you money in the long run.
"Most people are very active this time of year in their yards and around the outsides of their home, so it's a good time of the year to do the pest proofing to prevent problems coming into the fall," says Gene Chafe, the general manager of Senske Pest Control.
Here are some tips to keep unwanted critters from entering your home:
- Seal cracks and holes outside your home
- Keep tree branches and shrubbery trimmed
- Eliminate standing water around your property
- Repair/replace damaged window screens and door sweeps
