KENNEWICK, Wash. - It's a day students at Park Middle School in Kennewick look forward to all year.
Part of the courtyard is flooded and they get to race the remote controlled boats they've designed and built.
The kids use materials in kits developed by the school's technology and science teachers.
All teams had the same resources.
Principal Kevin Pierce said, "They love it, and they talk about it all year. It's one of those key experiences they'll never forget. Just the atmosphere you produce for them, everybody has a good time and it's all around learning and having fun at the same time."
This was the second year of the boat racing event at Park.
The WSU GEAR UP program paid for the materials this time.
