PENDLETON, Ore. - The Oregon Department of Transportation says they are beginning a $2.1 million highway project to build new, or enhance existing truck chain areas between Exit 216 near Wildhorse Resort and Exit 246 at the Kamela Interchange.
Crews will build a new truck chain area along I-84 eastbound near milepost 237.5. Crews will also upgrade an existing site near milepost 227.5.
Along westbound I-84, crews plan to build new sites for installing or removing truck chains near mileposts 217, 225.6, and 245.
The project will cause shoulder and intermittent lane closures at the five locations. The department says they hope to have all construction done by fall.
