NBCRightNow.com - A local show choir is preparing for its upcoming season. Forte! is a high school show choir organized through the Tri-City Youth Choir.
The ensemble consists of 26 singers representing six different high schools across the Tri-Cities. They practice five hours a week over a span of three months in preparation for their spring concert.
This year's musical entitled, "Let's Go To The Movies" features songs from popular films such as "Annie," "Footloose," "Brave" and more.
Choir members say being in the group is both positive and rewarding.
"It's like a big family to everybody and it's just fun to be able to sing and dance and share the same talents and values with the people around you," said Natalie Elison, an alto singer.
"The standard they hold us to really helps us set that high bar for us, for productivity and the work we do," added Conner Kreutz, a bass singer
Forte! originated back in 2011 after a group of moms decided their teens needed an uplifting environment to showcase their talents. Group members are required to take an oath vowing to be respectful, abstain from alcohol and drugs and lead a clean modest lifestyle.
