RATTLESNAKE MOUNTAIN, Wash. - Prosser Firefighters and Benton County Firefighters went out to a fire on the south side of Rattlesnake Mountain around 1:30 on Friday morning.
Firefighters say the flames were started by a passing lightning storm, but because of the difficult, rugged terrain, it took the first crews over an hour to access the fire.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire, and then remained on the scene to continue putting out hot spots, and complete a dozer line around the area by 9 AM.
The fire burned 125 acres of open range land. No one was hurt.
