KENNEWICK, Wash.- This year, people at the Benton Franklin Fair are learning about the splendor of Hydroponics Gardening.
Imagine not having to worry about seasonal growing.
Hydroponics is the process of growing and cultivating plants without soil.
It's just water, a nutrient and a container with aeration.
Tracy Christensen with Tri-City Hydroponics Gardeners says its as simple as taking a 5 gallon water jug, removing the top, and putting a fountain pump and timer on it to start.
Christensen says, "Some people think this hydroponics is more spending, and it would be if you went to a store and bought a plug in play system. But you can use things that you already have or things you can find inexpensively and recycle. That's what I like about it cause I can be greener."
Hydroponics is also being used by the military to feed troops overseas and teach the local people to become more self sufficient.
