IRRIGON, Ore. - An Irrigon woman is in the Umatilla County Jail, accused of recklessly killing her dependent mother.
The East Oregonian reports a Morrow County District attorney has charged Ida Anna Powers, 64, with one count of first degree manslaughter.
The attorney says Powers was taking care of Anna Lyons, who developed a bed sore in the fall of 2012. He says Powers did nothing about the sore and other family members intervened in October when they saw Lyons' condition.
The family took her to a local hospital where an aircraft ambulance flew her to Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, because the bed sore was so severe. She later died there from the wound.
