PASCO, Wash. - Franklin County Commissioners are busy this week with budget workshops for the 2013 fiscal year. The state of Washington has fallen on hard times recently with budget cut backs and dwindling funds. But Commission Chair Brad Peck said when they crafted the 2010 budget Commissioners made some staff and budget cuts that have helped keep Franklin County afloat.
"In these last few years when we've had some very tough and difficult times we've not had to make additional cuts and we've leveled the budget out," said Peck. "We sort of took our medicine early in the process."
Pecks said he's most concerned about the Juvenile Justice program. He believes it needs more funding.
Commissioners will meet every day for the rest of this week with the final workshop scheduled next Monday.
