PASCO, Wash.-- Franklin County Commissioners voted Monday to reject a petition seeking to incorporate the doughnut hole area into its own city.
Commissioners acknowledged that the City of Pasco's annexation of a portion of the doughnut hole is already in effect.
They did consider delaying Monday's decision to allow more time for a pending lawsuit against the annexation, but concluded that there's no definitive timetable on when that case will be resolved.
The Citizens for Lifestyle Preservation group said they're upset with the decision after all their efforts.
"Nine hundred eighty-two extremely disappointed individuals that took their time, their effort, their money, to work on this process," said Roger Lenk, Citizens for Lifestyle Preservation.
Both the city and the doughnut hole group can pursue a summary judgment in the annexation lawsuit, but neither side has taken action so far.
