WEST RICHLAND, Wash. - Students and bus drivers took part in a bus safety refresher course on Tuesday in West Richland.
The youngsters at Tapteal Elementary learned about bus stop safety, how to board and behave on the bus, and how to safely cross the street. They also learned about watching out for strangers.
Bus drivers said the lessons give the older kids a sense of responsibility.
"They need to be sort of like the adults in this situation and I think when they know they have more responsibility, they respond better to learning," said Bus Driver Melissa Joyce.
The Benton REA used a grant to pay for today's presentations which also included a visit from Buster, the Talking School Bus.
