KENNEWICK, Wash. - The jury trial for a night club employee accused of assaulting a bar patron continued Wednesday with testimony from defense witnesses.
The defense also played security video from inside the bar. It showed what led up to Ben Ensign's debilitating injury outside Jack Didley's in downtown Kennewick.
Bouncers first approached Ensign to leave the establishment after the defendant, Matt Hibbard, saw that Ensign had kicked a chair over.
There is also video of Ensign unbuckling his pants, taking off his shirt and taking a woman's drink from a table and drinking it.
Hibbard said while he was watching Ensign from the cameras, at first he couldn't tell if he was just messing around.
"Mr. Ensign displayed some behavior that was somewhat, I guess, aggressive looking. It looked like he kept standing up and was kind of posturing," Hibbard said.
That's what led Hibbard to confront Ensign and ultimately drop him outside the bar. Ensign is still recovering from the head injuries and his family said he'll never be able to live independently again.
