RICHLAND, Wash.- It's the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce's largest event of the year and rev's up big business for the local economy.
Hundreds of people from all over the country cruise into the Tri-Cities for Cool Desert Nights.
The annual car show is the Chamber's biggest fundraiser that helps fund a lot of the small business programs and services throughout the year.
Last year, more than 700 vehicles registered and nearly 20,000 attended the event. Chamber President Lori Mattson says 10-percent of those who attended and participated were out of town visitors.
"Over the years we've tracked it, it's anywhere between $200,000 to $400,000 between hotel stays, visiting the restaurants, the shopping and all the incidentals that folks buy while they're here in town," said Mattson.
Mattson says this event last year raked in more than $400,000.
