PASCO, Wash. -- Fluor Federal Services donated 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to local children today.
Fluor made the donation at the Boys and Girls Club of Benton and Franklin Counties. More than two dozen kids received their bags today, and the Boys and Girls Club will hand out the rest as needs come up throughout the school year. Both the kids and staff who were there today appreciated the gifts.
"I think the backpacks pretty cool, cause they, well they help us carry things first of all and also you guys (fluor) are providing the school supplies that my mom sometimes can always afford," said recipient Devon Keil.
"Not every kid comes to school with the same resources," said Brian Ace, Boys and Girls Club Coordinator. "And so with a gift like this, we're able to ensure that kids start the school year on an even playing field, that they have the tools and resources they need."
Fluor donated the actual backpacks and their employees donated the supplies to fill them.
