PASCO, Wash.-- Hundreds of volunteers came together to support our troops Saturday in an effort to make their Christmas more merry.
The Mid-Columbia Make a Difference Day Committee organized the volunteer event to assemble about 500 care packages for U.S. troops.
The packages will be sent to men and women who are from the Pacific Northwest.
The boxes include toiletries, a small pillow, food and cards from the community.
"These are going to come right around Christmas time. It's a great opportunity for us to be able to tell them how appreciative we are for everything that they do for us. And just to know we care. We love them so much," said Amanda Myhre, volunteer.
Veterans, Young Marines and local families were just some of the groups that helped out. Packages for troop dogs were put together too.
