RICHLAND, Wash. - Many Water Follies fans got to check out some hydroplanes up close at WSU Tri-Cities today.
It was all apart of the "Biofuels, Boats and Butch" event.
Dozens of families came out for the chance to actually sit in the drivers seat, win free prizes, and meet some of the people involved in racing.
The event showcased not only the boats, but also some new technology begin developed in the Tri-Cities to help the boats run more efficiently.
"The kind of thing that we really focus on here, is what we call integrated biorefineries because in order to produce the jet fuel you have to produce a whole suite of different products along the way as well," says WSU Assistant Director Keith D. Thomsen.
The bio jet fuels are still in the development phase, but will be used in one of the boats at this weekend races.
