PASCO, Wash. - The back to school season is here, and there are still two weeks to help out with the Walmart/NBC Right Now "Back to School Supply Drive."
Ten area Walmart stores all the way from Yakima to La Grande are participating in the drive. Monetary donations can be made at the register or Walmart has pre-packaged supply bags that can be easily purchased and donated. Each donation stays local.
"Once we finish collecting all the supplies and the donations, purchase the supplies needed. Each store delivers their supplies to their local school district and then the school district decides which schools of theirs need the most help," said Kelly Bayles, Walmart store manager.
Organizers say donations are lower this year compared to last year.. but the level of need is still the same.
