PASCO, Wash.- The Franklin County prosecutor anticipates his first witness in a murder trial will take the stand on Wednesday.
Tashia Stuart returned to court Monday morning as attorneys finished interviewing the last of nearly 200 prospective jurors for her trial. Attorneys on Tuesday will select twelve jurors and three alternate jurors. The panel will hear the prosecution and defense opening statements Wednesday morning.
Stuart is accused of first-degree murder and attempted murder. Pasco police arrested her in March 2011 for shooting her mother, Judy Hebert. Stuart is expected to testify in the trial that she shot her mother with a handgun after Hebert came at her with a hatchet.
The trial is scheduled to last through the month.
