KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Arts Foundation of the Mid-Columbia is giving you the opportunity to learn how the arts affect the local economy in a positive way.
Tuesday afternoon, from 3:30 to 6:30, the president and CEO of the Tri-Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau will host the "Making Dollars and Sense with the Arts" symposium.
The goal of the symposium, which will include demonstrations, exhibitions and an open house, is to inform the public about how the arts contribute jobs and money into the community.
The Dean of Arts and Humanities at Columbia Basin College will provide a historical perspective on the growth of the arts community and its impact on the local economy.
A panel of private and public business owners from Boise, Walla Walla and Spokane will attend to speak about how investments in the arts grow each community's culture and economy.
The public will have the chance to talk one on one with the panelists and have the chance to learn more about local arts organizations.
The event is free to attend. It will take place at WSU Tri-Cities in Richland at the Consolidated Information Center in room 120.
